Chocolate Chip Cookies (Toll House cookies)
Without a doubt the Americans' greatest contribution to the culinary arts :-) Chocolate Chip Cookies. This is the "original" American recipe. It's also known from an episode of "Friends." It's only the filling I've changed a little bit, in order to suit my own taste buds better.
Ingredients
dry
- 5.5 dl (2 cups) flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
wet
- 225 g (8 oz) butter
- 1.5 dl (½ cup) sugar
- 2.5 dl (1 cup) brown sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla sugar or a little vanilla extract
- 2 eggs
filling
- 2½ dl (1 cup) Nuts, roughly chopped.
- 100 - 200 g (3½ - 7 oz) 70% dark chocolate. chopped (½ * ½ cm (¼ inch * ¼ inch))
Directions
Mix the dry ingredients.
Melt the butter and pour it into the bowl.
Mix in the sugar.
Mix in the rest of the wet stuff.
Slowly mix in the dry stuff. If the dough is too thick, add a little water.
Mix in the chocolate.
Don't stir too much after the chocolate is added, as it will mix with the rest of the dough and turn it into brown chocolate cakes instead.
Heat the oven to 175°C (350°F).
Use an ice cream scoop or a spoon to make 6 cakes per baking pan.
Bake for 10-15 minutes, or until they are golden around the edges.
Let them cool for at least 20 minutes before eating.
