Orange Sauce

Orange sauce is a quick sauce of butter, sugar, orange juice and lemon juice — the classic accompaniment to pancakes and æbleskiver. Ready in a minute.
Ingredients
- 30 g butter
- 50 g sugar
- grated zest of 1 orange
- 1 dl orange juice
- 2–3 tbsp lemon juice
Directions
Cook the sauce
Combine butter, sugar, grated orange zest, orange juice and lemon juice in a saucepan. Bring to a boil and cook for 1 minute, stirring.
Serving
Serve warm with pancakes, æbleskiver or crêpes.
Notes
- The sauce can be made ahead and reheated before serving.
- A splash of Grand Marnier or Cointreau turns it into an adult version.
- Can also be used as a sauce for vanilla ice cream.
