Pickled herring in a double-mustard sauce with sour cream, mayonnaise, and fresh dill. Served on dark rye bread.
Ingredients
- 4 pickled herring fillets, cut into 2 cm pieces
- 100 g mayonnaise
- 100 ml sour cream (or creme fraiche)
- 2 tbsp whole grain mustard
- 2 tbsp Dijon mustard
- 3 tbsp fresh dill, finely chopped
- 1/2 red onion, finely chopped
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp white vinegar (7%)
- black pepper, freshly ground, to taste
Directions
Combine mayonnaise, sour cream, both mustards, vinegar, and sugar in a bowl. Stir until smooth. Fold in dill and red onion. Season with pepper. Add herring pieces and coat evenly. Refrigerate at least 24 hours. Serve on dark rye bread.
